American Subcontractors Association (ASA) Honors St. Louis-Based PayneCrest Electric and Communications with 2008 Safety Award

Firm Earns Highest Safety Honor for Fifth Time in Past Six Years

ST. LOUIS - In a year when it was engaged in the St. Louis area's largest and most complex electrical installation, PayneCrest Electric and Communications, Inc. earned highest safety honors.  The firm was awarded the "ASA Safety Award" from the American Subcontractors Assocation (ASA) Midwest Council earlier this month.

PayneCrest was recognized in the Division II category - 500,000 to one million man hours worked.  It marks the fifth time the firm has received the ASA Safety Award in the past six years.

PayneCrest's experience modification rate (EMR) is 0.63, bettering the average 1.00 EMR for the construction industry.  PayneCrest's total recordable incident rate (TRIR), which OSHA uses to compare safety levels of companies, is currently 1.35.  The national TRIR average for the construction industry - the most hazardous in the nation according to the U.S. Department of Labor - is 6.3.

Key PayneCrest projects in 2008 included the largest electrical contract ever awarded in the region, the Holcim Cement Plant in Sainte Genevieve, MO.  The firm also completed assignments for Buzzi-Unicem USA, Inc. and Ameren Rush Island Power Plant, both in Festus, MO.
